    The second volume of Annals of Cultural Psychology is dedicated to the affective nature of human social relationships with the environment. The chapters here included explore the historical, theoretical and practical dimensions of the concept of affectivating originally introduced by one of us (Valsiner, 1999), as a potential tool of inquiry into the affective-sensitive dimension of psychological life within a cultural-psychological framework. The concept of affectivating involves two psychological dimensions often undervalued or even obliterated from contemporary cultural psychology, namely the affective involvement and the agentivity of people in their social encounters.Through several examples --‘feeling-at-home’, silence spaces and rituals, memorials, music and poetry, among others-- we show individual’s concrete actions in mundane everyday life aim to give an affective personal sense to the world around. This focuses on the primary affective nature of human meaning construction that guides the person in one’s continuing feeling-into-the-world.At a theoretical level the notion of affectivation challenges contemporary Cultural Psychology to rescue subjectivity, not only symbolism. Affectivation propounds a return to the long, but partially forgotten, organismic tradition, represented in the history by thinkers like Wilhelm Dilthey, Jakob von Uexküll and Kurt Goldstein. Cultural psychology has to bring semiosis back to the vital background of human experience.

    Un recurso abundante y escasamente explotado localmente. Los datos son una oportunidad de conocimiento latente; respuestas concretas ante preguntas inminentes. Sin embargo, su saturación, compleja lectura y comprensión, impide muchas veces su aprovechamiento.Y es que estamos inmersos en un contexto de sobreabundancia de información, de disímil naturaleza y procedencia, y su adecuado y eficaz procesamiento, se vuelve entonces un imperativo para diseñar, reconocer y comprender escenarios presentes y futuros.Contextos que se articulan desde la toma de decisiones informadas y cuya base esta justamente en datos que producimos a diario (conscientes o inconscientemente ) desde múltiples plataformas. Delinear estrategias para abordar, a través del propio quehacer, propuestas que consideran esta nueva realidad son un desafío que desde la academia hemos asumido, convencidos que es un espacio fértil de reflexión y discusión.El Laboratorio de Visualización de Datos, como parte de una línea investigativa de Diseño UC, se crea para abordar esta emergente materia y ponerla al servicio de la sociedad. Una plataforma académica llamada a reflexionar, cuestionar y dar respuestas a la complejidad en la que vivimos, que al mismo tiempo se conecta y navega por diferentes estadios de la disciplina, mutando desde la mera información, a la creación de conocimiento.El Laboratorio de Visualización de Datos tiene total sentido en una Unidad donde entendemos al Diseño como una disciplina creativa, productiva y reflexiva, al servicio de los demás, centrada en la interacción de ser humano y su entorno (material e inmaterial). Este foco de interés fundamenta nuestra naturaleza interdisciplinaria y humanista, promoviendo un espíritu crítico e innovador, desde una visión compleja del mundo, que contribuye a la innovación, desarrollo y beneficio social de Chile.

    Latin American Perspectives on Women Philosophers in Modern History

    This book presents Latin American Perspectives on women philosophers, comprising selected articles from the First International Conference of Women in Modern Philosophy that took place in Rio de Janeiro City, Brazil, Latin America, in June of 2019. The conference brought together over twenty national, transnational, and international philosophers from seven countries, whose work combines historical and analytical insight to recover the philosophical legacy of women philosophers. Historical and analytical work on women’s philosophical thought constitute efforts to re-conceptualize what counts as philosophical knowledge and re-appraise the epistemic relevance of written material that women thinkers produced for most of history. This collection and the conference that gave origin to it are testimony to the enduring power of multinational and multicultural philosophical collaboration.

    Metamall. Espacio urbano y consumo en la ciudad neoliberal chilena

    Los espacios de consumo masivo han cambiado la escala y la cualidad de la relación entre el comercio y la ciudad circundante, así como también el carácter de las relaciones interpersonales urbanas que en ellos se dan. ¿Cómo ocurrió tal naturalización en Chile?Comprender el espacio que tiene el mall en la ciudad, desde su dimensión tanto material como simbólica, obliga a un examen acucioso de sus antecedentes y cómo se presentan. Es así como los mall han cobrado un protagonismo en el mercado de suelos y ejercen un rol gravitante en el proceso de construcción social. Su implantación en la ciudad ha provocado numerosos debates y otros tantos conflictos. ¿Es posible, desde la planificación urbana y la arquitectura, superar los juicios morales que cubren el debate del mall, para proponer nuevas y mejores formas de convivencia entre los megacentros comerciales las formas tradicionales de ciudad?
