Abstract
The brief but significant biographical, contextual, and artistic relationships established between Violeta Parra (1917-1967) and Thiago de Mello (1926-2022) are analyzed, as well as the multiple networks they shared after 1961, when the poet was Cultural Attache of the Brazilian Embassy, in Chile. Special attention is paid to the two creations dedicated by Violeta to the Amazonian poet: the burlap (arpillera) "Thiago de Mello" (1961) and the song "Siqueiro prisionero" (1965) ; as well as to the cultural support Violeta received from Thiago. The work also aims to compare, poetically and thematically, some poems by Thiago de Mello (Os Estatutos do Homem -Man's statutes (1964), A Cancan do Amor Armado (1966) and Poesia comprometida corn a minha e a tua villa (1975)) with some songs by Violeta Parra (Canciones reencontradas en Paris (1963) and Las ultimas composiciones (1966)) ; special attention is paid to four areas: the social commitment of poetry, the singing's action-word, a certain revisionism of socialist utopias and ecopoetics.
