dc.description.abstractThe ability to extend the coherence time of NV centers is crucial for high-precision universal quantum sensors with nanoscale-resolution. We aim to manipulate and measure the environmental charge distribution around a NV center spot through photo-induced ionization and recombination, using multi-wavelength pulsed laser sequences, and measure possible changes in longitudinal relaxation times. If the charge state of surface defects can be changed via carriers created by the manipulation of the NV center’s surrounding environment, their new spin could be non-interactive with negatively charged NV centers, which may increase their relaxation times.
