dc.description.abstractA global, integrated vision of South American signals the Andes Mountains as a generator of a particular territorial morphology. Dividing the continent between the Great Plains and its rivers to the Atlantic and the valleys and rushing rivers facing the Pacific, a viewpoint is established for recognizing the western side of the Andes.
