Abstract
The competition between the US and China in the commercial, technological and geopolitical arenas has global repercussions. Latin America, despite a growing irrelevance, is also an arena where these powers are competing. Argentina has not been left out of this dilemma and, like other countries in the region, has tried to maintain a balance between the two powers, given the importance of each one: the United States in financial matters and China in both trade and investment. In this article, through a theoretical review, analysis of official documents and interviews, we analyse Alberto Fernandez's foreign policy towards China in the context of the divergences between the two states. We conclude that Argentina has continuously tried to strike a balance, although this does not imply equidistance, in a situation where governments have not yet been pressured to make a choice.
