dc.description.abstractEn este artículo abordaremos a un mediador –el procurador jesuita criollo Alonso de Ovalle– y su movilidad entre América, España y Roma durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVII. Vincularemos ese mediador a un agente de saberes y redes específicas de conocimiento. De este modo, el estudio de caso que presentamos nos permite estudiar cómo un libro publicado sobre Chile en la Roma barroca, la Histórica Relación del Reino de Chile, abre posibilidades de análisis sobre la importancia del procurador como un mediador y agente de circulación que permite dar a conocer en Europa y describir las vicisitudes de la guerra y la paz de un confín de la Monarquía de España.
dc.description.abstractIn this article we will discuss a mediator – the criollo Jesuit procurator Alonso de Ovalle – and his movements between the Americas, Spain and Rome in the second half of the 17th century. We will link this mediator to an agent of knowledge and specific networks of knowledge. Thus, the case study we present allows us to examine how a book about Chile that was published in baroque Rome, An Historical Relation of the Kingdom of Chile, opens up possibilities for the procurator’s importance as a mediator and agent of circulation who was able to publicize and describe the vicissitudes of war and peace in a remote corner of the Spanish monarchy to Europe.
