dc.description.abstractThe introduction of the image of the Latin cross as part of a process of conquest and colonization of indigenous imagery in the Andes is contextualized. The occurrence of a significant movement of the Latin cross is proposed from the Christian representational universe to the Andean universe, highlighting movements of denial and/or selective appropriation of the Catholic cross icon in the rock art system. This system stands as a visual language operating from their own culture and in obvious conflict with the formal languages of colonial evangelization.
