- ItemHeavy neutral leptons and top quarks in effective field theory(Springer Nature, 2025) Beltrán, Rebeca; Cottin Buracchio, Giovanna Francesca; Günther, Julian; Hirsch, Martin; Titov, Arsenii; Wang, Zeren S.We study the phenomenology of heavy neutral leptons (HNLs) at the LHC in effective field theory, concentrating on d = 6 operators with top quarks. Depending on the operator choice and HNL mass, the HNLs will be produced either from proton-proton collisions in association with a single top, or via non-standard decays of top quarks. For long-lived HNLs we estimate the sensitivity reach of different detectors to various operators with top quarks and the HNLs for the high-luminosity phase of the LHC. For certain operators, ATLAS and some far detectors (MATHUSLA and ANUBIS) will be able to probe the associated new-physics scale as large as 12 TeV and 4.5 TeV, respectively, covering complementary HNL-mass ranges.

Facultad de FísicaWestudy the phenomenology of a U(1)B−L extension of the Standard Model (SM) predicting long-lived heavy neutral leptons (HNLs), which are pair produced from a new gauge boson Z’ with displaced vertex signatures at the electron positron mode of the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee). Progress on sensitivity prospects are provided in the 1-100GeV mass scale for the B-L gauge coupling g′ = 10−3 and 10−4, and HNL-light neutrino mixing |VµN|2 = 10−8 − 10−20, a region that has not been constrained by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). Exclusion curves are obtained for a configuration of the IDEA detector with and without a LAYCAST-like far detector on the HNL vs Z’ mass plane (MN −MZ′) and the HNLmass vs heavy-light squared neutrino mixing plane (MN − |VµN|2)

Instituto de FísicaThis thesis investigates the potential detection of long-lived Heavy Neutral Leptons (HNLs) with τ mixing at the Future Circular Collider using e+e− collisions (FCC-ee). By employing Monte Carlo simulations, the production, kinematics, and decay processes of HNLs are explored, focusing on their signatures as long-lived particles. The sensitivity of FCC-ee is analysed within a parameter space defined by the HNL mass M_N and the mixing coupling between HNLs and the light Standard Model neutrinos |V_{τN}|^2. The results highlight the importance of displaced vertices and characteristic kinematic patterns that may serve to distinguish HNL decay products from background noise. As no studies specifically addressed HNLs with τ mixing at the FCC-ee, this work provides critical insights into expanding the search scope into parameter space regions not excluded by current experimental constraints and lays the foundation for enhancing detection strategies to explore the phenomenology of HNLs and their implications for physics beyond the Standard Model.
