- ItemCharacterization and trypanocidal activity of nifurtimox-containing and empty nanoparticles of polyethylcyanoacrylates(ROYAL PHARMACEUTICAL SOC GREAT BRITAIN, 1998) Gonzalez Martin, G; Merino, I; Rodriguez Cabezas, MN; Torres, M; Nunez, R; Osuna, AThe aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of nanoparticles of polyalkylcyanoacrylate as a targeted delivery system for nifurtimox against Trypanosoma cruzi, responsible for Chagas' disease. Ethylcyanoacrylate nanoparticles were prepared by an emulsion polymerization process and formulations containing different concentrations of nifurtimox, polyethylcyanoacrylates and surfactants were investigated and analysed for size and drug content.
- ItemProcedure for radiolabeling gizzerosine and basis for a radioimmunoassay(1999) Torres, M; Manosalva, H; Carrasco, I; De Ioannes, AE; Becker, MIA method for the labeling of gizzerosine (GZ), a biogenic amine found in fish meal, is described. The labeling procedure with I-125 using a water-soluble Bolton-Hunter reagent and a mild water-insoluble oxidant (Iodogen) reagent is rapid and reproducible. The I-125-GZ hapten was demonstrated to be immunologically active in a radioimmunoassay developed with polyclonal antibodies to GZ absorbed with a histamine-Sepharose column. The curves were linear in the range of 0.0001 and 0.1 mu g/mL. Samples of fish meal previously extracted of histamine with methanol and submitted to acid hydrolysis were contaminated with known amounts of GZ and submitted to the assay. The fish meal samples contaminated with GZ show a dose-response effect similar to the standard curve, and apparently the other component present in the sample did not interfere with the binding of the antibodies to I-125-GZ. These data indicate the suitability of the radioimmunoassay to determine specifically GZ in fish meal.
- ItemReactions of dichloromethane with thioanions .2. Formation of 5-alkyl-1,3,5-dithiazinanes, 3,5-dialkyl-1,3,5-thiadiazinanes, and 1,3,5-trialkyl-1,3,5-triazinanes by reaction of dichloromethane with sodium sulfide and monoalkylamines(GORDON BREACH SCI PUBL LTD, 1995) Torres, M; Vega, JCThe reaction of dichloromethane with sodium sulfide and monoalkylamines, catalyzed by polyethyleneglycol 1,500, is studied. A mixture of 5-alkyl-1,3,5-dithiazinane, 3,5-dialkyl-1,3,5-thiadiazinane, and 1,3,5-trialkyl-1,3,5-triazinane is obtained. The proportion of these heterocycles depends on the amine structure and the presence of sodium hydroxide.
