Beyond the standard model with scalars: long-lived particles and dimuon Higgs decay
(2025) Norero Cárdenas, Sebastián; Díaz, Marco A.; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Facultad de Física
This thesis explores two extensions of the Standard Model. The first modifies the Scotogenic Model to explain deviations in Dimuon Higgs decays, while satisfying LFV constraints. The second extends the Georgi-Machacek model by incorporating a type-II seesaw, leading to a long-lived doubly charged scalar. Both models offer collider signatures, with one probing loop-induced Higgs decays and the other emphasizing LLP searches. Future experiments will be crucial in testing these predictions.

Exploring dimuon Higgs decay in an extended Scotogenic model
(Springer Nature, 2025) Escribano, Pablo; Lozano, Víctor M.; Norero Cárdenas, Sebastián; Vicente, Avelino
We investigate the dimuon Higgs decay h → μ+μ− in the context of an extended Scotogenic model. The model introduces a singlet complex scalar in addition to the standard Scotogenic scalar doublet and singlet fermions, charged under a dark ℤ2 symmetry. By exploring the one-loop contributions, we show that the model allows for sizable deviations in the Higgs dimuon decay rate, quantified by the quotient Rμμ = Br(h → μ+μ−)/Br(h → μ+μ−)SM. Crucially, these deviations comply with experimental limits, including those on Br(μ+ → e+γ) and Br(h → γγ). Such deviations can be tested and constrained by future precision measurements at the LHC.
