- ItemClient violence towards childcare workers: a systematic literature review(2023) Díaz Bórquez, Daniela; Calderón Orellana, Magdalena; Inostroza Correa, Alejandra; Varas González, GonzaloClient violence against childcare workers is a relevant problem due to its impact on their well-being and the service they provide due to their significant role in the child protection process. This study explored violence against childcare workers using a systematic literature review. PubMed, Science Direct, ResearchGate, and Google Scholar were searched for studies that included the words workers, childcare workers, child protection workers, social workers, user violence, client violence, child violence, parental violence, client aggression, client-perpetrated violence, residential childcare, childcare centres, and/or child protection centres. A total of twenty studies were included. Most studies described violent incidents, often directly involving children or their parents. The results indicate that the effects of violence significantly impact the life and well-being of workers and those workers and organizations naturalize it. It is necessary to advance in the denaturation of violence in the workplace and agree on a violence definition to implement preventive measures such as induction, training, and supervision.
- ItemExploring Latin American Organizational Social Work (OSW): a primary analysis of the conceptual, epistemic and methodological bases of OST in Latin American schools of social work(2024) Inostroza Correa, Alejandra; Miranda Sánchez, Paula; Calderón Orellana, Magdalena; Farah Ojeda, JorgeDespite the prevalence of social workers working in the organizational field, there is no consensus in the literature on what Organizational Social Work (OSW) is and how it is understood from a Latin American perspective. This greatly hinders undergraduate and graduate education in the area and the training of new professionals. The objective of this article is to identify the theoretical, conceptual, epistemic, and methodological bases underlying the practice and teaching of OSW in Latin America, and to reveal the challenges and shortcomings present in teaching. A grounded theory approach was used to conduct 12 in-depth interviews with social workers to explore their definitions of OSW from an academic perspective. The results indicate that OSW taught in universities does not have a precise definition, which is linked to deficits in the available literature. OSW is an interdisciplinary field that arises from practice rather than theory, and its great challenge is the establishment of research and structured academic education.
- ItemFeminist economy and care cooperatives from a gender perspective. The experience of three Latin American countries(2025) Inostroza Correa, Alejandra; Miranda Sánchez, Paula; Araya Arcos, Leonardo AlonsoWithin feminist economics, the figure of the cooperative has taken on great importance due to the alternative it proposes to traditional private production. The cooperative, which often appears spontaneously in little-studied contexts, such as the countryside and Latin American indigenous communities, presents real and concrete cases of joint work and resistance in environments that are often hostile to the individuals that make them up. This is why this article sought, based on the experience of cooperatives in three Latin American countries, to collect, through semistructured interviews, the constitution of alternatives to traditional private production from a feminist economics perspective.

- ItemSocial work and management: Interdisciplinary education from an international perspective in South America(2024) Calderon Orellana, Magdalena; Inostroza Correa, Alejandra; Miranda Sánchez, Paula; Farah Ojeda, JorgeAddressing social work challenges requires interdisciplinary approaches. While traditionally linked with health, law, and education, its connection with administration is underexplored. This research examines the management-social work relationship in South American training programs. Using qualitative methods, it highlights the scope and challenges of interdisciplinary collaboration.
- ItemThe impact of technology use for care by informal female caregivers on their well-being: a scoping review(2025) Aparicio, Andrés; Inostroza Correa, Alejandra; Miranda Sánchez, Paula; Salinas, Carolina; Herskovic Maida, Valeria Paz; Chackiel Durán, Camila Valentina; Alarcón Barbe, Catalina BelénIntroduction Informal caregiving roles are predominantly assumed by women, who often experience unique challenges related to physical, emotional, and social stress due to entrenched gender disparities. Within this context, the use of technologies to assist in caregiving tasks has become popular, and some evidence about their impact on caregiver well-being is available. However, significant research gaps persist. This scoping review was intended to assess the extent of literature examining the impact of technology use by informal female caregivers on their quality of life, to characterize existing research gaps, and to identify available evidence regarding gender-specific challenges. Methods We searched for studies in English, Spanish, and Portuguese published in peer-reviewed journals since 2018. We included studies exploring how informal female caregivers use technology and how such use impacts their well-being. The studies included in the review analyze the impact of technology use on the physical, emotional, or material well-being of informal female caregivers. Sources were screened in stages by two independent reviewers; data were extracted from selected full texts, and results were integrated into a narrative summary. Results A total of 14 studies were included in the review, highlighting a range of technologies such as health monitoring devices, communication platforms, and assistive aids. The review identified improvements in caregiver well-being related to reduced physical burden, enhanced emotional support, and increased social connectivity. However, significant research gaps were noted, particularly regarding the long-term effects of technology use, differences based on socio-economic contexts, and the limited inclusion of gender-specific analyses. Conclusions This review supports the notion that technology use can positively impact the well-being of informal female caregivers, especially in terms of emotional and social support. Nevertheless, the review also found that in certain situations, technology can fail to improve or even worsen the quality of life of caregivers. However, the limited availability of studies with standardized quantitative measures, gender-specific data, and comprehensive assessments of long-term effects highlights areas for future research. Further exploration into diverse sociocultural contexts and empirical model development will be essential to better understand the nuanced ways in which technology use influences caregiver quality of life. These findings underscore the potential for targeted technology solutions to support informal caregivers, with implications for healthcare professionals and policymakers designing caregiver support initiatives.
