    Architecture as a common field of knowledge

    Felipe De Ferrari and Jørg Himmelreich in conversation with Alejandra Celedón, Francisco Díaz, Arturo Scheidegger, Ignacio García Partarrieu and Tomás Villalón: On March 21, 2019, the diverse group of young architects and academics met at the Pontificia Universidad Católica in Santiago for a panel discussion to reflect on the practice of architecture in Chile, the cultural climate and the effects of neoliberalism on architecture and urbanism with a specific focus on the generation of young designers. What are their positions on culture? Which themes, trajectories and perspectives within their theoretical explorations and built projects are the most relevant? How do methodological, structural, conceptual and aesthetic considerations answer to – or challenge – social, political, geographical and economic conditions? And to what extent do Chilean strategies reflect global discourses? They demand a change of self-conception within the discipline – one that entails a shift from building to developing projects.

    Stereografía, la última serie de Ediciones ARQ, es una monografía a dos voces. Martino Tattara y Elia Zenghelis han colaborado profusamente a lo largo de su carrera y acá presentamos dos entrevistas (una a cada uno de ellos) hechas por Alejandra Celedón y Felipe de Ferrari, además de su proyecto conjunto para el parque central de Prato. Elia Zenghelis estudió y enseñó en la AA de 1956 a 1987. Cofundador de OMA con Rem Koolhaas en 1975 y socio hasta 1987, cuando fundó Gigantes Zenghelis Architects en Atenas. s profesor de taller avanzado en la Escuela de Arquitectura de Yale desde el 2013 hasta el presente. Ganador del premio Annie Spink a la excelencia en educación el año 2000. Martino Tattara es el cofundador de la oficina de arquitectura DOGMA, con sede en Bruselas, y es profesor asistente en KU Leuven. Su trabajo teórico y de diseño se centra en la relación entre la arquitectura y el diseño urbano a gran escala. Ha publicado ampliamente y dado conferencias sobre temas relacionados con la ciudad.
