    Estudio infrarrojo de cúmulos inmersos en l = 345°

    We have studied several embedded star clusters located in the fourth quad- rant of the Galactic plane (l 345 ; b +1.5 ). Data involves photometry and infrared spectroscopy (bands JHK and low dispersion respectively). This analysis has yielded a preliminary estimate of the fundamental param- eters of these objects and the behavior of the interstellar medium in this Galactic direction. FULL TEXT IN SPANISH...

    Investigando cúmulos estelares masivos con el VVV

    Preliminary results are presented for the study of infrared data of three mas- sive stellar clusters. Have been combined photometric observations (JHK; VVV project = Vista Variables in the Vía Láctea) and spectroscopic (follow- up) observations of the brightest stars in these clusters.     New Galactic star cluster candidates discovered in the VVV Survey within 10 degrees around the Galactic center

    We report the discovery of 57 new infrared open cluster candidates and stel- lar groups in the inner 10 degrees around the Galactic center. The newly dis- covered candidates are found by visual inspection of near infrared images observed under the Vista Variables in the Via Lactea (VVV) ESO Large Public Survey. The preliminary analysis shows that approximately 1/3 of them are younger than 10 Myrs....

    The VISTA Variables in the Via Lactea (VVV) is an ESO public near-IR variability survey that is scanning the Milky Way bulge and an adjacent section of the Galactic mid-plane. The survey will take 1929 hours of observations with the VISTA 4.1-m telescope during five years, covering a billion point sources across an area of 520 sqdeg, including 36 known globular clusters and more than 350 open clusters. The final product will be a deep IR atlas in five passbands (0.9 - 2.5 microns) and a catalogue of more than a million variable point sources....

    VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) is a public ESO near-IR variability survey aimed at scanning the Milky Way Bulge and an adjacent section of the mid-plane. Regular observations for the first year of the survey have been conducted since February 2010 and will cover a total area of 520 square degrees in five passbands and five epochs.     The VISTA Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) survey is one of six near-infrared ESO public surveys, and is now in its fourth year of observing. Although far from being complete, the VVV survey has already delivered many results, some directly connected to the intended science goals (detection of variable stars, microlensing events, new star clusters), others concerning more exotic objects, e.g., novae. Now, at the end of the fourth observing period, and comprising roughly 50% of the proposed observations, the status of the survey, as well some of results based on the VVV data, are presented....

    We describe the public ESO near-IR variability survey (VVV) scanning the Milky Way bulge and an adjacent section of the mid-plane where star formation activity is high. The survey will take 1929 h of observations with the 4-m VISTA telescope during 5 years (2010-2014), covering similar to 10(9) point sources across an area of 520 deg(2), including 33 known globular clusters and similar to 350 open clusters. The final product will be a deep near-IR atlas in five passbands (0.9-2.5 mu m) and a catalogue of more than 106 variable point sources. Unlike single-epoch surveys that, in most cases, only produce 2-D maps, the VVV variable star survey will enable the construction of a 3-D map of the surveyed region using well-understood distance indicators such as RR Lyrae stars, and Cepheids. It will yield important information on the ages of the populations. The observations will be combined with data from MACHO, OGLE, EROS, VST, Spitzer, HST, Chandra, INTEGRAL, WISE, Fermi LAT, XMM-Newton, GAIA and ALMA for a complete understanding of the variable sources in the inner Milky Way. This public survey will provide data available to the whole community and therefore will enable further studies of the history of the Milky Way, its globular cluster evolution, and the population census of the Galactic Bulge and center, as well as the investigations of the star forming regions in the disk. Our group is currently using this unique database, combined with spectroscopic follow-up, to achieve a homogeneous, statistically significant sample of clusters of different ages, distances and masses, including many candidates newly discovered by us....
