Influencia de la polinización cruzada en la formación de semillas en mandarinas cv. Clemenules y W. Murcott
(2018) Castro Oyarzún, Massiel Paulina; Mártiz M., Johanna; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Facultad de Agronomía e Ingeniería Forestal
Clemenules and W. Murcott mandarins are the most produced varieties in Chile, dueto its high organoleptic quality and the ability to produce seedless fruits in isolation, due to parthenocarpy. However, given the introduction of new citrus crops and the close proximity of the orchards is that cross-pollination is developing. Due to the compatibility between different citrus crops with mandarins, seed formation occurs in the fruits. The aim of this study was to evaluate the seed formation capacity of different citrus groups, such as tangerines and hybrids (Clemenules, W. Murcott, Fortune, Orriand Tangelo Minneola), lemon trees (Eureka, Benjamín Andes, Fino 49 and Messina) and orange Valencia Late. Conducted pollination trials on Clemenules and W. Murcott in two citrus areas of Chile during two seasons (2016 and 2017) were made. Before to pollination, in vitro pollen germination tests were carried out. For the evaluation of environmental conditions on seed formation, meteorology data were collected and evaluated at the time of flowering and fruit set. Pollen cross-pollination of the mandarins and hybrid over Clemenules crops were the ones that caused the greatest number of seeds in both zones and study seasons, being the cultivar most susceptible to seed development compared to W. Murcott. In addition, a positive relationship isestablished between the number of seeds per fruit and the percentage of pollen germination.
