    "Returning to the Past to Rethink Socio-Political Antagonisms: Mapping Today's Situation in Regards to Popular Insurrections

    This article seeks to elaborate a map or cartogram based on a number of protests and social mobilizations that took place in different parts of the world -mainly in Latin America, but also in Europe and Asia. Beyond the data and figures available from various sources, which never speak for themselves, an interpretation is proposed here to reveal the meaning of these events. In other words, by displaying a map of these social movements, the authors propose not only the visualization of a collection of data, but also an illumination of these events in the light of history. From there, the authors offer hypothetical predictions. These predictions allow the authors to consider the lessons that, sometimes, seem to be forgotten or are not learned yet.

    Salvador Allende: The Decline of a Plebeian Modernity

    This text describes the tragic figure of Salvador Allende from the question of the present. The analysis seeks to show the relationship between the leader of Unidad Popular and a certain exhaustion of socialist modernity as a civilizing program. The decline of modernity, however, would find resistance in Allende's ethical act and the aura of his political ghost whose residual agency presents itself as a difficult problem for traditional politics.

    Subvertir las fronteras: This is not America

    La violencia del trazado de los límites territoriales a lo largo del continente de América ha repercutido en el plano cultural, político, económico y social. La ingenuidad con la que se asume dicha división territorial acentúa las marginalidades que habitan tanto las fronteras geopolíticas como las de carácter social. Al reforzarse estas jerarquías de poder, aumentan la discriminación racial y de género –traducido por ejemplo, en los inquietantes índices de feminicidios del territorio–, así como también la explotación transversal tras las lógicas de apropiación y violencia con el objetivo de blanquear al continente y sus comunidades. En efecto, América se duele en su incongruencia por querer pertenecer a grupos supremacistas y, a la vez, aceptar sus morenidades. Dicho conflicto está comprendido en el concepto de border thinking, el cual pretende construir el conocimiento fuera de las hegemonías colonizadoras para reconocer su naturaleza flexible, porosa, y heterogénea. En esta tesis se plantea la reconfiguración de las fronteras desde la acción de subvertirlas para desmantelar sus estructuras tanto tangibles como metafóricas por medio del análisis de diversas manifestaciones artísticas. Por tanto, esta tesis aborda la siguiente pregunta, ¿cómo y en qué medida la subversión de las fronteras desmantela las estructuras patriarcales del continente americano y sus habitantes para dar paso a la unión del territorio?
