- ItemECHINOBOTHRIUM-EUZETI, A NEW CESTODE FROM THE SPIRAL VALVE OF A CHILEAN ELASMOBRANCH(1980) CAMPBELL, RA; CARVAJAL, JE. euzeti sp. nov. is described from the skate Psammobatis lima (Poeppig, 1835) taken in coastal waters off Constitucion, Chile. The species is distinguished from others in the genus by attaining a size of 5.5 cm, rostellar armature of 25 large hooks flanked by 6-7 hooklets/side, 100-107 spines/row on the cephalic peduncle, 37-42 testes mature segment and smooth ovarian lobes. - ItemPHYLLOBOTHRIUM-DISCOPYGI N-SP (CESTODA, TETRAPHYLLIDEA) FROM CHILE, WITH A CRITICAL COMPARISON OF THE AFFINITIES OF PHYLLOBOTHRIUM-AURICULA VANBENEDEN, 1858 AND PHYLLOBOTHRIUM-FOLIATUM LINTON, 1890(1987) CAMPBELL, RA; CARVAJAL, JPhyllobothrium discopygi n. sp. is described from the spiral valve of Discopyge tschudi Heckel, 1846 (Torpedinidae) taken in the Pacific Ocean off Coquimbo, San Antonio and Antofagasta, Chile. Specimens are described from whole-mounts, sections and SEM. Phyllobothrium discopygi is distinguished from other tetraphyllidean cestodes of the genus Phyllobothrium van Beneden, 1849 by a bifurcate scolex with bothridia joined in pairs, short neck, testes number and distribution, and morphology of the vitelline follicles and ovary. Phyllobothrium foliatum Linton, 1890 is considered a junior synonym of P. auricula van Beneden, 1856 following comparisons of P. auricula from D. pastinaca, Linton''s holotype of P. foliatum from D. centroura and fresh specimens from D. centroura taken in waters near Woods Hole, Massachusetts [USA]. A meristic comparison of the adult worms is presented.

- ItemSYNONYMY OF THE PHYLLOBOTHRIID GENERA RHODOBOTHRIUM LINTON, 1889, INERMIPHYLLIDIUM RISER, 1955, AND SPHAEROBOTHRIUM EUZET, 1959 (CESTODA, TETRAPHYLLIDEA)(1979) CAMPBELL, RA; CARVAJAL, JA comparison of whole mounted and sectioned specimens of Rhodobothrium, Inermiphyllidium and Sphaerobothrium from the type hosts was made and their validity assessed. The genus Rhodobothrium Linton, 1889 is emended and considered to be the senior synonym of the latter genera. Detailed description of R. pulvinatum Linton, 1889 is given based on material from the type host, Dasyatis centroura (Mitchill), and the new host D. americana Hildebrand and Schroeder. R. lubeti comb. nov. (Euzet, 1959) [ex. S. lubeti] and R. brachyascum comb. nov. (Riser, 1955) [ex. I. brachyascum] are included in the genus. The adult and plerocercus of another species new to the genus, R. mesodesmatum comb. nov. (Bahamonde and Lopez), [ex. Anthobothrium peruanum and Proboscidosaccus mesodesmatis] is described from Myliobatis chilensis Philippi, and the clam Mesodesma donacium Lamarck, taken in Chilean coastal waters.
